Grobo is a fast-growing selection. It forms very large, fresh green and tasty tender heads with an attractive yellow heart. Highly uniform and self-blanches well. Suitable for cultivation in greenhouses and in gardens, in spring as well as in autumn. To prevent "bolting" (seed formation) sow in a greenhouse or in the garden at temperatures of at least 15ºC. Keep soil moist during the cultivation. Transplant to well fertilized soil. Endive is a tasty and vitamin-rich crop.

Good king Henry, Poor man's asparagus

A very old crop, the dark green leaves of which can be eaten like spinach, but can also be used as seasoning. Used to be grown a great deal. The young shoots can be prepared like a sort of asparagus. Harvest these shoots before flowering. Can also be blanched by placing a black pot over them. Requires well fertilized and preferably somewhat moist soil. The leaves can be used to make tea for intestinal cramps.
